The Foundations of Christus Victor Lutheran Church

We the baptized people of God, called Christus Victor Lutheran Church, do commit ourselves to being a Christ-centered ministry of the Gospel.

Our Goal is to provide an opportunity for involvement in ministry for all who participate in the life of this congregation.  We will nurture and sustain an enviroment in which each person, empowered and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, is drawn into the ministry of this congregation so that, together, we shall serve the spiritual and physical needs of people - those known and unknown to us.

Christus Victor Lutheran Church, founded in 1986, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Set in the dynamic Harbison / Irmo area of central South Carolina, CVLC has grown into an active, lively, Christian fellowship. At the heart of our ministry is the desire to bring the light of Christ to those who live and work in the community.

There are many opportunites for spiritual growth and nurture at Christus Victor. Our ministry programs provide opportunites for worship, learning, service and fellowship, so that all might be strengthened in faith and might grow in Christian discipleship. If you are looking for a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ in a lively congregational setting, we invite you to make Christus Victor your church home.

Who Are Lutherans?

Lutherans believe in the Triune God. God created and loves all creation -- the earth and the seas and all of the world's inhabitants. We believe that God's Son, Jesus Christ, transforms lives through his death on the cross and his new life, and we trust that God's Spirit is active in the world.

We are part of God's unfolding plan. When we gather for worship, we connect with believers everywhere. When we study the Bible or hear God's word in worship, we are drawn more deeply into God's own saving story.

The convictions shared by christians from many different traditions are expressed in statements of belief called creeds.

These ecumenical creeds that Lutherans affirm and use in worship confess the faith of the church throughout the ages and around the world.

The Confession of Faith of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is part of our founding constitution. The ELCA accepts the following creeds as true declarations of the faith of this church:
