Weekly News from CVLC

SERMON SEED FOR SUNDAY…  In her book, Accidental Saints, author and pastor, Nadia Bolz-Weber, observes how God often shows up in the most unexpected places and people.  On this Second Sunday of Advent, we see that God has a long history of doing just that!  Isaiah shares the prophecy that out of a seemingly dead stump, a new shoot appears!  In our lesson from Romans, Paul (once an unlikely Apostle himself), shares how Gentiles are included in the gifts of grace and faith through Christ!  Finally, in our Gospel, Matthew turns our attention to John the Baptist, an unexpected spokesman and forerunner of the Messiah!  God still comes in unexpected places and people.  God comes here, in this time and place, through you and me!   May we anticipate and be open to God’s activity in the lives and witness of one another!
